Schedule a timed unlock
Make a step open at an exact time, in the right time zone.
Before you start
- You need a step open (or a new one) in the step editor. See Add a step.
- Know the time zone where your player will be when the step should unlock.
Steps
- In the step form, set How does this step unlock? to the timed option. Two new fields appear: Time zone and Unlocks at.
- Choose the Time zone that matches where your player will be at that moment. This makes sure the step opens at the right local time for them.
- Set Unlocks at to the date and time you want the step to open. It must be in the future.
- Select Save step. The step now shows an UNLOCKS AT line with the time and time zone.
What the player sees
- Until the time arrives, the player sees a quiet screen that says “This step unlocks at” with your chosen time. They don't have to do anything — when the moment passes, the step opens and they can continue.
Tips
- Pick the player's time zone, not yours, if you're in different places. The unlock fires at the local time you set in the chosen zone.
- Use it to pace a surprise. A timed step is a great way to make sure dinner, a reservation, or a meetup reveals itself exactly when it should — and not a minute early.
- The player can't skip ahead. A timed step stays locked for everyone until its time, so there's no way to rush it.
If something goes wrong
- “An unlock time must be selected” → You picked the timed method but didn't set a date and time. Add one and save.
- “A timezone must be selected” → Choose a time zone before saving.
- “An unlock time must be in the future” → The time you set has already passed. Pick a later time and save.
